My now 5-month Yorkie started to do this about a month ago when my husband tried to hug and kiss me in his presence. Then we noticed that he also barked at the screen when he saw a man hug a woman on TV, as if trying to protect her.
After it started happening, Fabian got a short "time-out" (no more than a minute or two) when he acted up during hugs. After a while, he understood that I wasn't in "danger." We also took him to places like family parties where everyone's hugging each other and he's beginning to understand that hugging is good. The more other people he's around, he's getting better about reading different types of interaction between people. |
