In one month my family is moving from Pennsylvania to Bangkok, Thailand. We plan to take our 8 year old Yorkie, Scottie. The policy of the airline is that he must go in the cargo hold. The cargo hold is temperature controlled. We purchased the recommended crate which is fairly large (considering his size). My problem is that the time from take off to landing in Bangkok is 18 hours. So likely he will be in his crate for 20 hours.

Tell me, is that just cruel? Am I making a mistake?

The other option is to go through the process of making him an emotional support dog. But isn't that dishonest?

What would you do?

Personally, I would love to leave him here in the US, but he is a best friend to my children and they are so sad to move. I thought to not bring him would be heart breaking for them.

Any advice? Experience? HELP!!!!
