Sorry, I just now saw your post, didn't mean to duplicate your idea. I'd just seen the story of a tick bite temporarily paralyzing a little girl on TV and once they doctor removed it, she began getting better, is now walking again and I saw Ann's post and looked for that story on Google. I agree it could be tick venom affecting Marcel, maybe targeting his ability to send neurological signals as it did that child's and making him lame. But it could be so many other things - just hoping those doctors can find the problem and help him. I know Ann must be crazy with worry.
