I have the kitchen and laundry room sectioned off with a baby gate and she chews that as well. Any advice on how to keep her from howling and barking when I try to leave and to not bite the bars of the crate and gate? She sleeps in the crate at night just fine but I am right there. Thanks! |
You can try something like this

When you do leave during the day, use the gated area with a bed, blanket, her lovey, food, water. You can use dog fencing to make a smaller area. Don't shut the door! Give her a treat, tell her you'll be back soon and confidently leave. When you return, as soon as she quits barking (ignore during the barking) greet her enthusiastically, take her to her pee pad, reward her for success. It takes time.
Congratulations on your new pup!
