I think this is a great idea.

I think the chances are good that he will be able to fit back into your life. I would give him a chance. Just be sure you want to keep him for life.

The two puppies we adopted at 8 months old lived in a bad breeding facility for 7 months and then lived in 3 different foster homes. When we adopted them it took a while for them to realize that they were finally home and to warm up to us. Sometimes I think they still wonder if they are going to be dumped somewhere else when we take them out. I think your pup will be fine, just be patient with him.
