Actually Titan's underbite wasn't corrected. He had a lower canine that didn't erupt. Several of his lower teeth were crooked and crowded. All the X-rays showed he didn't have several molars on top or bottom. This is when he was 18 months old. So he was born with less teeth. Ugh! So the specialist said the only way to see if the major lower canine would erupt would be to remove the bottom teeth, which were bad anyway. That would help with the underbite not causing any trouble. There was a good chance the lower canine would not come in and it would have to be surgically removed. Oh boy.
So he went through the surgery, which took a long time. With his bottom teeth gone the doctor built up his bottom bone with some kind of bone building stuff. Sealed the gums to the bone so no bacteria would inter his blood stream.
In a few months of weekly vet visits his lower canine was coming in. Prayer answered. Lost track of the money, but I know it was 2 or 3 thousand.
And no, insurance, if we had any, would not apply because an underbite is genetic.
My baby did just fine with less teeth till his passing @ 7 years. Miss him terribly.
