She does have a reaction and I appreciate the comments above about benadryl. We will do that in the future.
That said, really discuss with your vet and analyze the geographic regions you regularly visit. It's important to know what you might want to vaccinate for besides the required rabies. Just like when people travel, if you decide to take your pup somewhere you can always vaccinate at that time. We board so we get bordetella. We fly so we always check regulations near our destination. Some areas have heartworm, so that's another consideration.
Our daughter's bichon got parvo that came into her house on the boots of a plumbing contractor whose dog had been ill. He didn't even think he could carry it to other homes. The dog survived but it was long, expensive and just awful for the poor dog.
We just can't anticipate and control all exposures. And remember it's not all or nothing and your pup's needs may change and require adjustment. |
