Was sad to see that I waited too long to visit the redwoods and missed visiting the famous drive-thru redwood that we've all seen pictures of predating all of our parents'/ grandparents' births. Forget what happened to it - was it a storm or disease or what? Anybody know?
Though can't really complain about our spring weather so far, it's starting to get hot and humid some days now in D/FW, requiring the A-C and am already longing for dry, cold nights like they're now having at any of the wonderful cozy ski lodges that dot the Northwest.
Ah, I so love the mountains! What I wouldn't give for a nice long flight landing just about anywhere in NW with an elevation above 5k and big enough airport to land a commercial airliner - the only way I'll fly! Back in the day when we traveled so much, we used to fly to our NW/West destinations very early in the mornings so we'd start out our flights to the mountains with a piping-hot Cappuccino, usually laced with some type of liquor, very necessary for a white-knuckle flyer! We'd always board right by the first-class galley with that fresh coffee brewing away and our seats were usually close by so we'd smell coffee for the whole first hour on board and to this day, the smell of freshly-brewing coffee still reminds me of airplanes! Those were the days.
