 Skin darkening
Our pup was spayed and has also had two skin scrapings. On her underside there was some mild darkening where she was shaved that faded over time. It also took a long, long time for hair to grow back in that area and it still seems a little bare. I honestly don't know what it would look like if she hadn't been spayed. Her hair on her underside is thinner that her back anyway.
In the area of the scrapings looking for a source of hair loss on her shoulder (scrapings were negative) the skin darkened, too. I was worried because I read once when she was a pup and I was learning how to do top knots that if the skin turned black it meant it had died and hair would never grow back. This was NOT the case in the scrapings. The hair has grown back slowly and I don't see any darkened skin any longer. We are still working on finding the reason for the bald spot, which seems to want to return when she's off meds. |
