That is actually TRUE IRISH. I have friends who are from Ireland. There is NO such thing as corned beef in Ireland. He said the traditional dish is made with ham. The corned beef comes from when the Irish immigrated and where mostly in the Jewish neighborhood of Brooklyn. Of course they could not get ham and the closest thing the Jewish butcher had was corned beef.

By the way the church is actually granting dispensation on Friday so that you can eat meat. You are suppose to do something charitable in its place.
