My preference is to keep the paws as natural as possible. There is a reason for things like in-between-paw-pad-hair and ear hair etcetera. The paws are *extremely* vascular and innervated - so the hair is there partly to protect the more tender/vulnerable areas from foreign bodies.
I don't trim any of my dogs' paw fur, I let it wear naturally.
