Animal Smiley 019 Groom Paws & Pads

We have hardwood floors so during our snowy cold winters we keep our pup's paws well clipped so she is less likely to slide and slip on the floors. Now that spring and summer are here are we are outdoors and going on walks on sidewalks and across streets etc. and the weather heats up into the 90s and occasional 100 degrees, is it better to let the hair grow over the pads to protect them or still important to keep the hair trimmed off? (We know not to let her on surfaces that could burn her pads.)
