I have to be honest, I'm very confused and conflicted reading your post
. It literally tears me apart inside bc what you're basically describing here is that your poor little innocent dog had Congestive Heart Failure and basically she was drowning in her own body fluids (fluids getting into her lungs, which is why she coughed) -- and you're saying that you and your wife just watched it happen....
watched her suffer/drown horribly for months and *months*.
She suffocated slowly. And you didn't do anything...according to your description.
Why wasn't she taken to a vet so she could be evaluated and put on CHF medications, which help SO much...?
Like I said, I'm extremely confused. You express love for this dog, yet watched her suffer an excruciatingly cruel and horrible death

Still, I'm sorry for your loss. But on the other hand, I'm incredibly shocked by what you're describing in your own words
