No I don't think tail docking is barbaric nor cruel nor inhumane especially done early by a vet. What I think is more barbaric is automatic spay and neuter especially of very young animals. Folks the studies are building on the health repercussions of this and should not be an automatic unthought decision.
Tail docking pales in comparison to this procedure.
