Default Scare of my life!

So, this past Friday I experienced the worst feeling in the WORLD! My little baby Leo got to a medium-sized piece of grilled chicken that fell on the floor before I could get to it. He saw me coming to get it and I guess he got too greedy and tried to eat it all before I could grab it from him and he started to choke. Ugh, I can't even begin to explain the FEAR that came over me. He was crying and making weird noises like choking and gagging noises. I totally freaked out and tried to put my finger in his mouth to see if there was anything in his throat and accidentally scratched his throat with my nail while doing so (these bad boys have been cut down to the root now). He bled a little bit and kept on choking until I was able to run to my husband (while hysterically crying at this point, lol) and he saved him! He was able to smooth his throat down while holding him up to his stomach and I guess he ended up swallowing it. We were going to take him to an emergency pet vet but they said if he was breathing and acting normal to take him to his regular vet the next day. Next day we got up super early and took baby Leo to the vet and he got a full check and he was FINE! I was SO scared, I honestly felt like I was losing my baby and there was NOTHING I could do to save him. I've never felt that level of fear before; it was HORRIBLE. I'm just glad he's okay now and he's on 24/7 watch whenever we're eating now lol!

P.S. I've also since educated myself on what to do if this were to ever happen again so as to be better prepared for an emergency if I'm ever presented with it again.
