The way that I understand it is that the slicker brush is more for a double coated breed. Yorkies have a single coat much like our own hair. The slicker brush will pull the hair out in my opinion and possibly break it off (some people use this when a dog is shedding, which ours do not do). A pin brush is the most recommended for our babies, the one without the rubber tips on the ends. I finally broke down and bought one from CC systems. The first one I bought was about $15 dollars. I loved it so much that I ordered the
20mm gold series one (it was more expensive). Guess what, I like the first one I bought better. It is the oval 20mm. Zoe' looses less hair while brushing with it then any other one that I have bought over the past 2 years. I have bought serveral different ones at pet stores and even used ones that are for people hair. The best I have used is the one from CC systems. They have a web site that you can order direct.
