Yeah I am thinking of getting rid of it too. Now that I think about it, saliva + uncooked bone + time = bacteria growth .
so maybe I'll give the nylabones a try or those greenies.
Also, she's been having problems lately -- "selective hearing" and today she fell out of lapse from the pooping outside streak... she didn't even need to go that badly because all she did was like (and not to be gross) 1/4th of what she normally poops. So it was rather small (even for her) but she did pee a lot. I had taken her out the night before and I made sure she didnt drink before bed... She just did it on the spot.. and her crate is in her bedroom (which was my old bed room and a bit far from the front door and more so from the back)..
I tried shhing her or surprising her to see if she'd stop so I could take her out but she just had "Selective hearing" again...
She only listens when she wants to and I haven't done anything to merit it. I've been extra consistent with her training. I took her to a class but she just didn't like being near a big group of people with dogs... she was shivering and growling.... So we decided not to take her until we can find a private dog trainer.
But now I just don't know how to get her to listen to me. She doesn't really come to her name that much anymore. Only when she feels like it.
I just took her out and she pooped a bit more but not that much either (and she had eaten an hour or two ago-- she usually doesn't go that fast after eating-- I have been taking her out hourly for 10-15 minutes).
On leash she pulls a lot, and again no amount of training will do anything if she doesn't first listen/pay attention....
On the plus side she hasn't destroyed her dog bed which I had a weird feeling she would had.
She still holds in her pee, and poop anytime I take her out and only goes when she's about to burst....
On the plus side she isn't super yappy either.
Is there anyway to get her to listen to me? To actually come to her name? She knows her name already. She sometimes looks at me when I say it. She just seems aloof recently, as of like 2-3 days ago. I haven't done anything to her either.
She's not that aloof if I am sitting on the floor though, but then she just sits on me without me asking her to which I assume is probably a bad thing training wise? Not sure.
