You can also use the small little clips. They work great, stay in good, and they aren't painful to the puppy. My dog hates rubberbands but doesn't mind the clips.

If you use elastic clothe bands instead of rubberbands it is also more comfortable for them.

I tried the velcro but they don't stay in.

A good place to get them is Claire's Boutique in the mall. They have dog clothes and a great selection of bows. They also have a lot of sales.

My question is if the hair isn't in a ponytail what are the alternatives? You would have to have the baby in a puppy cut?
