I would not worry too tremendously about the germ thing. It can be highly exaggerated. Have her chew it on a towel. Simple.
I'll try finding some cheese. Got her some bones from walmart. It was on our way back to the docs. I wanted to see if she would even like them. Also got her a doggy bed. At first she tried to chew on it but then I put in on top of my "bed" (it's not a bed it's just we've been moving so we got this old mine that we're going to get rid of once we finish with the move and I've been in the living room- thus the weird living arrangements.) and I put her bone there too, and anytime she tried to bite the bed I'd shhh her and redirect her attention to her bone. so far she hasnt tried to chew it up.

I don't know if I can leave her alone with that bone though.. says to only let her have it when I am there. (all the bones there said the same thing).

As for the raw bone thing it would had been a good idea years ago. Just I don't want to risk being the cause of that person getting sick when I could had chosen an alternative. If there was a way to disinfect her (safely) to keep germs low I wouldn't mind.. by disinfect I mean... like you know how we use hand sanitizer. I highly doubt they make that for dogs that could also go on the chin area where the water would drip down to.

Bacteria grows pretty fast, I know things tend to be blown out of proportions.. but I remember when I was younger we were shown how fast it would take for bacteria to grow if given the right conditions. So I just like to be clean about things.
