agreed. they shouldn't be noseying into your private health issues no matter what field you are in. they don't know you or your mom's detailed medical history so they have no basis to make any claim/hand out advice on.

their handling of the situation seems very unprofessional. it's better to address this issue with your HR department and have it dealt with rather than just sitting in a job you despise.
