I just posted in the other post about ruptured ccl in another dog.

We have had one knee repaired from a complete tear a few years ago and were told she was high risk for anesthetic to repair a partial tear last year. While they say small dogs can "heal" with rest, I wouldn't choose that option if your vet feels your baby is healthy enough for surgery. Her arthritis is horrible now and she's always stiff and takes joint meds daily and pain meds as needed. She will be 8 next month.

So if you use a certified surgeon and he is deemed healthy and fit for surgery, you'd be doing him a huge favour.
