I'm just piping in to tell you that we repaired a full tear in Sophie when she was about the same age as your baby and then last year she had an assumed partial tear in the other leg but wasn't cleared for surgery.

I can attest that the arthritis from the partial tear "repairing" itself has left her with worse arthritis than before and with all of the cold and rain here lately, she has been very stiff. She'll be 8 next month and her poor little back legs are so pitiful at the moment. So if you can get the surgery done, I wouldn't wait to see if it can repair itself. Luckily, Sophie is more like a cat than a dog and has always spent more time sleeping than running around and playing but she can no longer do stairs or gonfor long walks (snail's pace and only 10 mins maximum). In her case though, the tear was deemed mild and she was deemed unfit for surgery but if your baby is healthy and you find a certified surgeon you trust, I wouldn't put it off too long!
