Since the yelping preceded the surgery, I agree with you. This sounds like something that preceded the surgery. I can't help but think that the Lyme Disease has something to do with it. Lyme symptoms usually go away within a few days following the start of treatment, but in more persistent cases, they can linger. I trust that the vet and the surgeon did an appropriate differential diagnosis and thoroughly considered whether Lyme Disease is a factor. If there are any doubts, there is nothing wrong with getting a second opinion. Whatever is causing the acute pain, prayers for Max on his continued recovery.
