Yes, they can sometimes come off of the steroids but only after they have maintained a normal albumin level for a period of time.
I definitely would not recommend doing this on your own! Discuss this with your vet. I just lost a pup who had PLE/lymphangectasia and IBD for 5.5 years. In the end, she didn't pass from that illness, so it CAN be managed.
