I feel the same way your Mom does
My neices Yorkie sleeps all day and I tell her all the time I think he is depressed, maybe because most of the time Georgie likes to run and play with his big sister and his toys. Oliver (my neices Yorkie) will sleep in until she gets up sometimes noon (she is a teenager), while George gets me up at 8 or so to go potty.
