I will NOT let my baby cry himself to sleep. When we brought our baby home @ 10 weeks we made a game with his crate. All day long! Hey, he liked it. He would go in on his own & I would close the door just a little. Several hours later I would close & lock the door. Ok, not so bad. So that 1st night we played so hard I knew he would sleep like a baby in his crate, that I put beside my bed.
Well, as soon as the light was out, here he went. Didn't know such a tiny little thing could be so LOUD!
I couldn't stand it. I put the crate in my bed, with him securely in it. I put my fingers through the holes in the door, talked softly to him and we both slept like a baby till potty time. Outside in the middle of the night, then back in crate in bed.
We did this for about a month, till he was big enough to sleep out in my bed without worrying I would hurt him.
2 years later he loves his crate and goes in & out of it when he wants.
You must create a safe place for your baby. Good luck.
