Sometimes singletons don't create enough hormones to start labour for mom. Another thing to consider is he more than likely is going to be large and has a very good chance getting stuck unless you're experienced and know how to get a stuck puppy out, how to grab the puppy, where to grab, how to pull you'll probably end going to the vet anyways. X-rays show you the skeleton but you what you can't see is how chubby a puppy will be. I've had to help whelping singletons before and sometimes you get lucky and it goes smoothly but other times you have to get very hands on and help and the moms don't always realize you're helping all they know is they are hurting and you tugging and touching is making it worse sometimes they bite sometimes they will Yelp and scream. Good luck I love singletons or twins you get to spend so much hands on uninterupted attention on them individually they are so much fun
