I would get her thoroughly tested to see if she had any underlying issues-- but I assume that's what those tests are for.

Dogs can have diabetes and require glucose testing and insulin injections just like humans. My brother lost his Cocker Spaniel to diabetes last year.

There have been a few members on Yorkie Talk whose Yorkies had/have diabetes.
Increased thirst and urination are common symptoms of lots of ailments, many which are minor and easily treatable compared to diabetes.
