Dogs can have diabetes and require glucose testing and insulin injections just like humans. My brother lost his Cocker Spaniel to diabetes last year. There have been a few members on Yorkie Talk whose Yorkies had/have diabetes.

Increased thirst and urination are common symptoms of lots of ailments, many which are minor and easily treatable compared to diabetes.
