As far as the fur loss - AND bc you're seeing such skin issues, you should *absolutely* rule out Cushings disease as a cause. Are there any other symptoms at all...even random ones? Increased drinking, peeing, appetite? Pot belly? Heat intolerance? Lethargy? Recurrent skin or ear issues? All of those (and more!) are related to Cushings.

The very first test for Cushings is the Cortisol-Creatinine Ratio Urine Test. Then you do ACTH, depending upon results of that first test.

And btw, the vast majority of generalist vets DO miss diagnosing Cushings ALL THE TIME. My Wylie was misdiagnosed for almost 2 years.
I thought of that and was going to ask where on the body the hair loss is. I would hope this vet would have considered this. LOL I should know better with some.
