I'd let them play - and - keep an eye on them for a while.

My 8-week-old pup drove my 21-pound Bichon crazy right from the start. He certainly could hold his own. However, my Bichon is a gentle shy dog - who wouldn't hurt anything in the world.

I had another dog - a poodlepom that definitely would have hurt a little puppy for the first week or so. She was very jealous - but within a week or two, she and the new puppy, I had at that time, became fast friends - for years - for the rest of her life.

I think you can tell soon whether or not your old pup might be too rough with the little pup.
