Let me start by saying I am not a yorkie expert, but I've House trained my dogs through the years. I dedicate the first week or more if needed to training a new dog. I watch carefully if out of the crate to any sign of having to void. During daytime hours I take the new dog outside every two hours for several days, then when successful go to three hours etc.
while the dog is peeing or pooping, I use a phrase every time. I use "do it. Do it." Any words you choose will work, but not ones you say in pattern in the house. I say this every time for weeks. Believe it or not, eventually the dog will go on command. Mine all do and ,boy, is that great on rainy days or when traveling.
Mine are all therapy dogs so I use the command before entering the hospital or facility. I was trained, I guess, too. Only my mom turned on the faucet in the bathroom.
Good luck with your new puppy. Consistency is the secret to all successful training, I believe.
