I discovered that even my big boys can slip through the baby gates and fences that have only perpendicular rods or slats. My boys are tall and narrow.
I also learned that adjustable baby gates with the criss-cross pattern pose a safety risk. Teddy got his leg caught in one of ours once while jumping excitedly. The horizontal tension bar is what caused the problem. Luckily I was close by and was able to extricate him before he hurt his leg.
