Welcome, while I can only regurgitate the advice given to me, I still wanted to wish you a good luck in getting your new dog.

I am sort of in the process of trying to acquire one myself. I hope that both of us get what we want.

All I can say is either go through a reputable breeder, or adopt. Which ever you choose should be good. Just avoid backyard breeders, puppy mills and pet stores. In the long run you would be better to stick to a reputable breeder or adopting.
