Welcome to YT. Never give a puppy free roam of house until they are 100% potty trained. Keep him confined to a small area blocked off from the rest of the house or supervise very closely in the same room you are in. Put him on a food and potty schedule. Feed same time everyday, every dogs needs are different, it's a trial and error for a day or two at when he will have to pee or poop, start off with 30 minutes after he has finished eating take him outside to potty, even if he already made inside take him out anyway. If he made before the 30 minutes then you know that's to long, take him out 20 minutes after he eats. Potty time must be the same time every day. Dogs are creatures of habit, he will learn what time he eats and what time he goes out to potty. Patience, consistency, treats and lots of praise when he gets it right are key factors in all training.
