I was hoping to wait 2 months to pick up the pup so I can have time and see which is the best breeder around, and other important stuff.

Let me just say, while I have taken care of our dog and the previous ones before her. (I use to live in an area with a lot of strays, I'd pick them up, clean them, feed them, and rehome them)

I wasn't the one to ever pick out a dog, or even pick out a breeder.... It's always been done by my sibling(s), or parents.. Now I am able to take on such responsibilities and I have quite a lot of free time on me I wanted to take one of my own.

So what all of this means is while I am not new to taking care of dogs, I am however new to picking them out, researching breeders, etc.

I don't even know what the average asking price is for a yorkie-- unless it's a byb....

From a breeder, I don't know what to expect in terms of price, what kind of stuff I have to bring(documents?) or if it's just a give them cash, and they just give you the dog no questions asked.

My question is, I understand that for yorkies usually the smaller ones cost higher, but what if you want one that's at least 8 pounds or so? What can I expect it to cost from a good breeder?
A yorkie from a reputable breeder could be between $1,000 - $2,500. The standard for a yorkie is not to exceed 7 pounds so a reputable breeder will be breeding to stay under 7 pounds. If a breeder is using the word teacup run. Reputable breeders will not breed a female under 5 pounds and that is an important fact because it's not safe to breed a female under 5 pounds so if they are willing to risk the lives of their female what else are they willing to risk. You also should be able to see where the puppies are being raised and BOTH parents. The only reputable registry in the US is the AKC reputable breeders will only use this registry if they are using another one it could be because their puppies are not full blooded yorkies. It can be hard to find a reputable breeder. So I wish you luck.
