Default high white blood count

Anna is the pup I got from a rescue 4 years ago. She was estimated to be around 6 at the time. My vet thought she was older. So, she's 10-12 years old. She had a dental scheduled for this Friday. However, she has been losing weight without cause and just kind of lays around all the time. She went from a chubby 8 pounder to just at 6 pounds. This is not a bad weight for her, but an unusual weight.

I took her to the vet. He said her glucose was a little low and her white blood count was high. Otherwise, all blood work is good. He thinks it's possibly her teeth. So he put on her an antibiotic for 2 weeks. He also put her on an anti-inflammatory---probably for life. He postponed her dental for 2 weeks from now.

I'm still a little nervous about the dental. Perhaps her malaise is caused by the teeth. But she is just not herself. Her head hangs low a lot. We went to the park earlier this week and she didn't even want to walk around and smell everything like she normally does.

I guess I just want some reassurance that this will all get better after the dental and that she will be ok having the dental.
