Default Wiping feet

I read somewhere they wipe their feet to scent mark their territories. Their sweat glands are located on their feet, so they scratch, kick, to deposit their personal scent. They also circle around before lying down because their instincts are taking over. In the wild, dogs do this to flatten the tall grass in the spot they have chosen to bed down in.
