How can I tell if my pup is peeing or marking.

My pup is 7 months old and not neutered yet.

If he hasn't pee'd for a while - I take him out side. He will often start smelling the shrubs near the house. Usually, he'll smell where he or my other dog has pee'd, and he will lift his leg and pee there.

Also - I have noticed that when he's confined to the kitchen when I'm gone - he has lifted his leg and pee'd somewhere rather than use the pee pad.

Are these episodes peeing or marking?
