This is not abnormal for post-surgery, while the anesthesia is still clearing out, which takes a while. Just make sure you mention it seemed to last longer than you expected to the vet, as they may want to use the one that clears a bit faster (can't recall if that's Iso or Sevo at this moment...).

Dentals are different for every dog, I swear. Our Wylie, who is 12, has actually never had one! The vet looks at his teeth and says "nope, really doens't need one"...so on we go. My other dogs have had them once.
