How long are your walks? I take mine out daily, 3 times a day. The morning walk is just a quick potty break. But the afternoon and evening walks are each around 0.5 mile.

They're 1.5 years and 3 years old, 4.5 pounds and 5.5 pounds. Both do okay during these walks without shoes.

I would only suggest wearing shoes for protection during very hot times of the year, when the asphalt and concrete are too hot for their pads. Or during the winter, when the roads and sidewalks are salted.

I believe that dogs pads are naturally meant for the outdoors and for walking. If they wear shoes at such a young age, their paws won't have a chance to develop the natural thickness to protect themselves from the outdoors. And also, a plus side of these daily walks, their nails don't need to be trimmed as much.

Here's my Casie taking a nice morning stroll :

And both of them walking to their Halloween party last year.. hehe..
