A reputable breeder will keep the puppies with the momma until they are 12 weeks old, between 8 weeks and 12 weeks old momma is teaching her babies many things like bite inhibition, that hard play biting is not acceptable, which will benefit the new human family, also the breeder is training puppies to use wee-wee pads which also help the new family when puppy transition to a new family.
Keep the puppy on the same food the breeder is feeding, the puppy will be going through many changes when he comes to live with you, changing foods will cause upset tummy and diarrhea which is what you do not want.
I have a boy and keep him with a top knot and bows,barrettes and claws, all colors except PINK. Boys can wear bows and barrettes.
