Why not?? I have a 2 year old yorkie that is strictly and indoor dog and pad trained also. I live in an apartment without the freedom to let him out whenever he has to go. I do take him on a daily walk but that is not enough. Some of us dont have back yards or space to let them out to do their business. Pad training isnt a bad thing. |
Pad training does have its' good points, like snow, rain or freezing temps. My very first dog as an adult was a toy Poodle. Because she was such a small dog I feared her walking on nasty streets lol. Back then there was no such things as pee pads, we had to use newspapers. For 14 years I lived with dog making on paper, I swore never again. I have had 7 dogs since then, I lived in an apartment, each and every dog was leash walked at 7:30AM before I left for work and at 4:30PM when I came home from work. Snow, hail, rain, freezing temps, and blazing sun my dogs were walked. It's a commitment one makes to themselves when purchasing a dog. Now I am a home owner so my rescue boy has a designated potty area in the yard. Walks are now for pleasure only. He knows what a pee pad is, I do leave one down for him if I am going to leave him for more then 6 hours, but he will wait until I get home, he prefers to make outside. It is what a person prefers their dogs to do, I prefer mine to make outside, there are great advantages to pad trained dogs.
