Some dogs prefer the outdoors with the smells and sounds. It's very stimulating for them. I had a dog that I had to pick up to bring in the house and he spent all his time destroying window blinds trying to get outdoors. Finally we compromised, I bought him a dogloo and had a secure kennel/run built for him to stay out during temperate times he go so much better and more calm. He still was allowed to get out, go on walks, run and play and come indoors to spend time with family. He lived well past his life expectancy. Every situation is different.
