I do believe you can have a yorkie while working 8 hours a day. I think for potty training, you could have a dog walker or break up the day with you or your husband doing a mid day walk however I understand sometimes that this is not possible.

Crate training has helped me and my Emma does not poo/pee in her crate even at 8-10 hours. I do not feel that this is wrong to do because it means the dog is safe as well as items in the home.
