but common sense tells me that if slippery surfaces n stairs negativity impact a young pups bone maturation, then knees will not be unaffected.

The knee structure is notoriously vulnerable and in youth the ligaments and tendons that hold that knee in proper anatomical relationship are soft, immature if you will. Repetitive jumping puts a huge concussive force up and through the legs.

It is why in performance sports we start out very slowly with very low jumps and build up their muscles.....
