I think it depends on what you would like to do with your new dog. Go out n about a lot, performance sports, swimming etc. Kids are around most places.

I am surprised that no one mentioned training or desensitization towards children. That is an option of course.

Short visits of your grandkids are likely okay, but what if they want to come and stay a month? What then?
