I had a little poodle (she has since passed on) diagnosed with chronic allergic bronchitis, which is similar to asthma in humans. She was prescribed a Flovent inhaler, which is a human asthma medication, and she was on it for the last five years of her life. We used an aero chamber (made by aero-dawg) to administer the inhaler. The inhaler required a prescription from our vet and was very expensive. I couldn't afford the medication in the states, so I purchased it from a Canadian pharmacy but it still required a prescription from my vet. It also took a LOT of training in order for her to use it properly. Starting a medication like that is not something to be taken lightly, and she needed very regular monitoring and blood work. It is definitely something that would require the cooperation and advice of your vet.
