If he has to lose weight try cutting down his morning meal give half the vet food and the rest frozen green beans (french cut). Being he is a small dog I would give him the green beans twice a week, say Monday and Friday. I give Cody the green beans ONLY in the morning because frozen beans has a lot of water in it and Cody has to pee more often. Try giving your pup green bean twice a week, after a month weigh him to see if there is any weight loss. I am not sure what a monthly safe weight loss is, but I do know it has to be gradual. I put up a thread asking what was a safe weight loss but received no response. I feel 1/2 a pound month for my boy is a safe monthly loss. Depending on your pup's weight maybe 1/4 per month is safe.
