i just this morning bathed my three. What a party we had. I had not bathed my little fourteen week old since I brought her home so she really needed it. She is really skittish about me even brushing or combing her and i can't even touch her head. I filled the tub with enough warm water that it was up to her belly. She can not climb out of the tub. Then I used Johnson baby shampoo and took a cup to pour water on her holding her ears down. I soaped her up and rinsed. no problem but then I got her out and sat her on my lap and towel dryed. She thought she was homefree then I turned on the blow dryer and sprayed conditioner on her. She was scared to death. Trembled like a leaf in a wind storm. She was afraid to move. I did a hiney, eye, girly part and ear trim. By the time I got thru, she thought she was dying. Not fun but a necessary evil. Sorry I don't have any advice for you about how to make it better. Just wanted you to know that the shivering is not always cause they are cold but when they are scared to. Ceeby was next and he was nearly as bad. BUT, he is now almost eight months old and gets better with each bath which is only about every two weeks unless he is really dirty from being outside and so low on the ground. Silk was next and she is an absolute angel altho she is not too crazy about the blow dryer. the other two I have to groom with one hand and hold with the other. Silk, I just set up on the side of the sink and do anything I want to her and she never moves. Of course I sweet talk all of them. The more you bath them, the more used to it they get. I always put enough water in the tub that they can almost swim. Ceeby is the only one that can climb out if I don't hang on to him. |
