Default Pet Insurance Question

So I am trying to switch Thumper's Pet Insurance from Healthy Paws to Figo because they pay for exam fees. I had them review Thumper's medical records to see if anything would be considered pre-existing. I knew the allergies would be because the vet wrote down zyrtec (though he actually does not have allergies it was only suspected)

What I wasn't expected is that they will refuse to pay for any GI issues because back in 2015 Thumper had diarrhea and the medical records did not specifically indicate the reason for diarrhea. Vet gave him a B12 shot and went on his way. I know longer use that Vet so I can't go back and ask them to clarify it. Is it still a good idea to switch his insurance?

I am not sure what if any GI problems he can get in the future. His Healthy Paws would cover it all but not pay for any Doctor Fees. With Boomer I recently spent close to $1,000 just on doctor and expert fees.

I am also trying to put money into a savings account for emergencies. This could be all hypothetical and he can never have GI issues but who knows what the future holds. I never thought Boomer would get cancer.
